The FAIRFAX STATION RAILROAD MUSEUM
News
- The exterior of our caboose was cleaned in June 2008, thanks to our volunteers, Ben Migliaccio, Jack Migliaccio, John McAnaw, John Rogers, and Jon Vrana. It’s hard to believe that the caboose is forty one years old. Now it looks like brand new!

- Thank you to the DAR Providence Chapter for the beautiful installation of the flagpole and American flag and to the Dominion Valley Garden Club for the Blue Star Memorial By-Way garden surrounding the new flagpole.
First Gear produced a die-cast metal replica truck, a 1949 Dodge Power Wagon Southern Railway signal maintenance truck, 1:30 scale. Sold in our Gift Shop, the museum hopes it will be a good fund raiser. - Thank you to Delegates James Dillard (ret.) and Timothy Hugo for their assistance in the Museum’s request for a grant from the Commonwealth of Virginia for fiscal year 2006. The $25,000
appropriation was used to pay some of our loan for the building addition and for other maintenance projects. - A railroad crossing gate and lights now sit next to our caboose and tracks, compliments of Norfolk Southern and “Santa” John Kandl. JL Tree Service donated their services for the installation.
- The Museum has a fresh look! A new split rail fence was installed in the fall of 2007. This complements the 2006 painting of the station exterior and staining of the deck and stage, fully donated by CertaPro Painters, Sherwin Williams and their franchise owners. Thanks to the coordination of Eric Rodgers, our caboose was professionally restored and painted and the baggage cart will soon have new stenciling.
Our Station and grounds are a pleasing historic sight on Fairfax Station Road.
